Basemark Continues Strengthening Its Organization with the Appointment of a High-Profile Automotive Industry Executive
Helsinki, Finland, February 26, 2019 – Basemark, a leading software technology company specializing in graphics and compute applications, announced today, that Dr. Kay Georg Segler has joined as an advisor of the company. Dr. Segler’s role is to further strengthen the market position of Basemark, especially in the automotive industry. Basemark provides software and professional services which accelerate graphics and compute processing in embedded systems.
“When I saw what Basemark’s Rocksolid Engine can do, it became clear to me that it will be a central and a crucial part of any automotive computer system, enhancing the performance of autonomous driving functions and graphics displays,” said Dr. Segler.
Dr. Segler’s distinguished career spans over 30 years in the international car industry. Having graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration from Mannheim University, he joined the BMW Group in 1988. Dr. Segler has served in numerous key positions within the company, including leading the MINI business and brand management for 8 years. Dr. Segler was also President of the BMW M GmbH, Head of Parts Distribution Europe & Overseas BMW AG and President of BMW Asia Ltd., Singapore. Since 2014, Dr. Segler has been providing management consulting to companies that are transforming the automotive industry towards the disruptive future.
Dr. Segler has extensive ties to Asia and was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Singapore for Bavaria & Saxony in 2006, serving in this capacity until 2011. From 2015 through 2017, he acted as Senior Advisor to the President of the NTU (Singapore) and was Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Business School.
Dr. Segler currently serves as Board Member and Senior Advisor to MicroFuzzy GmbH (Munich), Courage Partners (Singapore), and Tomic Group (Munich). He also acts as Head of the Advisory Board of the Weltbild Group (Augsburg). In 2017, Dr. Segler joined the European Board of KPIT as a Non-Executive Board member.
