Basemark is a forerunning provider of real-time software solutions in multiple industries. Our technology and know-how are found in many end products, ranging from cars to robots and industrial sensors. We operate globally and our customer base includes automotive OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, processor companies and anything in between.

In 2019, we estimate our revenue to roughly triple from the year before. We currently employ around 100 people directly or indirectly. Basemark has been profitable from the beginning.

Basemark Oy is a privately held limited liability stock corporation, headquartered in Helsinki, Finland. The company was founded in April 2015 (Finnish register ID 2688018-1). Basemark Oy has two wholly owned subsidiaries, Basemark Inc., registered in Delaware, U.S. and Basemark GmbH registered in Munich, Germany.

Tero Sarkkinen

Founder & Executive Chairman of the Board

Tero is a serial entrepreneur as well as startup advisor and investor. His professional career has involved being based in Europe, USA, and Asia. Throughout his 20+ years career, Tero has dedicated himself to computer graphics and has become a distinguished pioneer of real-time 3D graphics, possessing a deep understanding of both technology and business issues in the rapidly growing industry. Tero now has two successful business exits to his credit that have validated his path-breaking competencies in his domain.

Tero was the founder and CEO of Rightware, which became the world #1 supplier of user interface visualization software to the global automotive industry. Rightware was acquired in 2017 by Thundersoft, Chinese publicly listed company, at a premium valuation. Before this, Tero was CEO of Futuremark, a well-known PC graphics company. Futuremark was acquired by United Laboratories of USA. In 2015, Tero and Arto founded Basemark, a company focusing on big data visualization and compute solutions for industrial markets.

Tero has M.Sc. (Econ and BA) From Aalto University, majoring in International Business Administration and has completed eMBA courses at Stanford and ESADE Barcelona. Amongst other accolades during his career, he was nominated as Software Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 by Finnish Software Industry and Entrepreneurs Association. Aside from his native country of Finland, Tero has worked seven years in Silicon Valley and two years in Shanghai. He lives currently in Switzerland.

Keith Silverang

Board Director, CEO

Born in the USA in 1961, Keith moved to Finland in 1986 and has since built his entire career in the country. He has worked as an export manager in industry, become an entrepreneur, built scalable service businesses and as the CEO of Technopolis Plc from 2008, he oversaw the expansion of this pioneering shared work space company throughout Finland and across the Nordic and Baltic countries.

Keith was the first foreign-born CEO on the Helsinki Nasdaq stock exchange and the longest serving of any listed CEO on the exchange of the last 15 years. He stepped down in July, 2019 to concentrate on board work and investments in promising growth companies like Basemark.

Lilja Tamminen

Director of Operations and Product Management

Lilja started her career in technology as a technical expert and systems integration developer. Quickly, via the start-up world, she found herself in positions within product development, supply chain management, and management consulting. Having experience in founding companies and working for small and large organizations on both the private and public sectors, she has acquired a broad understanding of different business needs and perspectives.

Since Autumn 2018, Lilja Tamminen serves as the Director of Operations for Basemark. In this role, she is responsible for the planning, execution, and development of Basemark’s global business operations. In addition, as Director of Product Management she works hand-in-hand with Basemark’s business units and corporate partners developing new high-technology products and services.

Mark Dillon

Marc Dillon


Marc has a proven track record of delivering software and hardware products in embedded, mobile, real-time, and high tech companies. He is known globally for co-founding and leading the global presence of Jolla and the Sailfish operating system, which is now used as a secure mobile platform in the east. Marc carries nearly 30 years of technology and product creation knowledge, working as a principal engineer at Nokia and VP of Software at ZenRobotics.

Sami Niska


Sami has more than 20 years of experience in sales, business development, strategy, product management and software development in international business. He has a diverse background in start-ups and corporations. Sami was management team member of a video codec pioneer, Hantro when it was acquired by On2 Technologies (later on acquired by Google). He has held several senior positions in Nokia and Microsoft. Prior joining Basemark he was leading sales for video recognition AI start-up, Valossa.

Sami received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (Embedded Systems) from University of Oulu and MBA (International Finance) from Aalto University completing courses also in IE Business School in Madrid.

Paula Stelander

Head of HR

Paula is known for building strong company cultures of transparency, agility and trust in three different start-ups: Legal industry rebel, publicly listed Fondia, future looking AI and robotic waste recycling company ZenRobotics and Eniram, spearhead company of Marine industry digitalization, acquired by Wärtsilä in 2016. She also has vast experience in recruitments, due to her long career as recruitment consultant in the turn of the millennium.

Paula has Master of Science in Organization and Management from Aalto University.

Mika Heikinheimo

Board Director

Mika is one of the most successful software entrepreneurs in Finland. He founded IT Service company Symbio and grew it to become a company of over 1,800 employees operating in three continents. After a successful exit, Mika has dedicated his time to advising and investing in start-up companies.

Mika holds M. Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the Tampere University of Technology.

Jussi Harvela

Board Director

Jussi Harvela brings over 25 years of global high technology business leadership experience. He currently serves as CEO at TactoTek, a leading provider of solutions for Injection Molded Structural Electronics. He led Finnish origin and US-based Solid Information Technology from early-stage technology development and positioned it for acquisition by IBM; in addition, he has contributed to many successful companies as a CEO, investor, board chairman/member, and advisor.

Jussi earned his master’s degree in software engineering, international marketing, and business strategy from the Helsinki University of Technology. He also has a BA in music.

Jussi is a keen sailor and enjoys hunting, fishing, and cooking. He has a passion for developing the Finnish high tech economy and influences promotional, educational and technology transfer programs, such as Slush, Startup Sauna, TEKES TULI, and VTT Ventures Advisory, and participates in bridging those programs across global markets.

Klaus Zimmer

Board Director

Klaus is an incredibly experienced and successful IT executive. He’s a former Senior Vice President of SAP and currently serves as a Member of the Board and a Member of the Corporate Management team at Neusoft Corp. During his 35-year career he has lived not only in his native Germany, but also extensively in Asia. With more than 30 years of experience in the China and Asia business, he’s undoubtedly our best expert of the region.

Klaus has raked in numerous awards and accolades. For example, he was the first foreigner to be awarded as Most Valuable Entrepreneur by the Chinese government in 2006. In 2008 he was awarded as one of 35 IT Legends of China. Klaus is frequently interviewed in TV and has appeared on CNN, CNBC, CCTV, etc.

Klaus holds a Masters Degree in Business and Economics from Universität Trier and has completed MBA and eMBA courses at Harvard Business School and INSEAD.

Bruce C Belliveau

Bruce C Belliveau, CFA


Mr. Belliveau is the Founder and a Principal in the firm of ROMAN ARCH Clean Energy Finance, an international strategic consulting, project finance and financial advisory firm, focused on the development and financing of infrastructure, natural resource and renewable energy projects. The firm has a particular interest in deploying alternative energy as an international development vehicle in emerging markets. Interests extend from North America to Europe, the Middle East, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Mr. Belliveau is also a Managing Director with CNS Global Advisors, a strategic advisor and global network of professionals that provide advisory services to growth-stage operating companies, development companies, and investment companies.

Mr. Belliveau has over 30 years of experience advising companies, as an investment banker and in a senior operating and financial capacity, on all aspects of strategic positioning and capital raising initiatives. A native of western Massachusetts in the United States, Mr. Belliveau began his career as an engineer with The Dow Chemical Company before moving on to Wall Street where, as a senior investment banking professional with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and Prudential Securities, he advised U.S., Europe, Middle East and Asia-based companies on all aspects of equity and debt financings, strategic positioning, and merger & acquisition analysis. As an investment banker, Mr. Belliveau completed 48 public and private equity financings, 14 debt financings and 15 financial advisory assignments, encompassing over 100 successful client engagements.

Mr. Belliveau received an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in International Public Policy from the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (“SAIS”) of the Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. He received dual BS degrees in Biochemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and participated in senior executive programs at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and London Business School, among others.

Mr. Belliveau is a FINRA Registered Representative with Weild & Co., member FINRA/SIPC, and holds the Series 79 (Investment Banking) and Series 63 (General Securities) licenses.

Dr. Kay Segler


Dr. Segler’s distinguished career spans over 30 years in the international car industry. Having graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration from Mannheim University, he joined the BMW Group in 1988. Dr. Segler has served in numerous key positions within the company, including leading the MINI business and brand management for 8 years. Dr. Segler was also President of the BMW M GmbH, Head of Parts Distribution Europe & Overseas BMW AG and President of BMW Asia Ltd., Singapore. Since 2014, Dr. Segler has been providing management consulting to companies that are transforming the automotive industry towards the disruptive future.

Dr. Segler has extensive ties to Asia and was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Singapore for Bavaria & Saxony in 2006, serving in this capacity until 2011. From 2015 through 2017, he acted as Senior Advisor to the President of the NTU (Singapore) and was Adjunct Professor at Nanyang Business School.

Dr. Segler currently serves as Board Member and Senior Advisor to MicroFuzzy GmbH (Munich), Courage Partners (Singapore), and Tomic Group (Munich). He also acts as Head of the Advisory Board of the Weltbild Group (Augsburg). In 2017, Dr. Segler joined the European Board of KPIT as a Non-Executive Board member.
