The Functional Safety Manager will be responsible for managing and supervising the system safety lifecycle activities according to the international standard for Road Vehicle Functional Safety – ISO 26262 up to ASIL-B and in rare cases ASIL-D.

With support from Quality Management and other stakeholders, the Safety Manager would be:

  • Establishing and improving the company’s safety culture
  • Managing and defining the safety lifecycle of Basemark’s in-vehicle software platform SEooC elements
  • Ensuring engineering processes and practices are safe and satisfy functional safety requirements
  • Developing and refining the company’s safety engineering processes and practices
  • Supervising and evaluating the safety engineering activities for adequacy
  • Providing guidance to engineers and architects on tackling safety engineering challenges

Requirements for this position:

  • A bachelor’s or higher degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Professional experience with Automotive SPICE and software quality management systems
  • Evidence of previous experience of working in at least two functional safety projects
  • At least 5 years of prior automotive engineering experience, preferably in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in safe system design, functional safety or critical systems engineering in a safety-relevant industry, e.g. subject to IEC 61508
  • An in-depth understanding and experience of ISO 26262
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • An Advanced-level Functional Safety Professional certification from a reputable organization such as TÜV Süd/TÜV Rheinland
  • ISTQB certifications
  • VDA-QMC Product Safety and Conformity Representative (PSCR) certification
