Rocksolid AR Studio 25.5 introduces new capabilities that expand interaction options and improve usability. This release adds a ton of interactivity options including support for touch & gesture inputs, OpenXR integration for AR / XR glasses, and several UI/UX improvements.
Improved Interactivity with Android Touch and Gesture Inputs
This update introduces touch & gesture inputs for Android devices, allowing you to create applications that support intuitive user interaction. By incorporating these familiar methods from traditional HMI development, it becomes easier to design interfaces that blend standard controls with AR elements, validate realistic user scenarios, and build hybrid interaction models for modern interfaces.
OpenXR Support for AR Glasses and XR Devices
Rocksolid AR Studio supports OpenXR
Another important update in the 25.5 release is OpenXR support, which enables you to build and deploy applications for smart glasses and other XR devices directly from Rocksolid AR Studio. You can now create XR experiences that work across multiple hardware platforms, simplify deployment, and develop advanced XR applications for wearable devices.
Open XR support includes support for input sources such as Meta Quest controllers. This enables your applications to respond to external inputs beyond audio, creating more interactive and dynamic XR experiences.
Spotlight Visualization for Precise Light Placement
Spotlight Viewport Visualization
In the previous 25.4 release, we introduced Physically Based Rendering (PBR) to deliver realistic materials and lighting. In this release, we have made an additional improvement to the PBR functionality by adding spotlight viewport visualizations. This improvement makes it easier to see exactly where a light source is anchored, improving accuracy and control when working with lighting setups.
UX and UI Improvements
Improving usability is always a priority for us. In 25.5, you will find updates that make the interface more streamlined and easier to work with, such as improved color picker components and quality of life improvements for shader compilation.
