Helsinki, Finland | March 17, 2026 – Basemark, a global provider of advanced Human Machine Interface (HMI). and Augmented Reality (AR) software and tools, has joined the NATO Innovation Continuum, contributing to the Alliance’s efforts to advance and evaluate emerging defense technologies.
The NATO Innovation Continuum is led by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT). Its purpose is to accelerate the delivery of innovative solutions to the military community through experimentation and demonstration, and to encourage effective collaboration on innovation projects across NATO and its member nations in support of development of future warfare capabilities. The framework provides a structured path from early identification and testing to faster adoption.
Basemark’s participation reflects recognition that its expertise in AR and real-time graphics aligns with NATO’s priority areas in emerging technologies. The program creates an opportunity for Basemark’s solutions to be reviewed in environments that reflect real‑world operational demands, supporting the company’s work in mission‑critical visualization.
“Being included in the NATO Innovation Continuum is an important step for Basemark,”said Tero Sarkkinen, CEO and founder of Basemark. “It gives us a structured platform to present our technology to a wide variety of key stakeholders, from armed forces to primes and partners. We look forward to contributing where our experience in high‑performance visual systems can deliver value.”
As part of the NATO Innovation Continuum, Basemark will support AI‑enabled Audacious Training, an initiative aimed at strengthening readiness by making training more realistic and adaptable. Basemark’s expertise in AR and real‑time rendering will help create training environments that mirror real geography, dynamic conditions, and responsive adversary behaviour.
Basemark will take part in the 2026 cycle of the Innovation Continuum, starting with the IGNITE scoping event held in May and progresses toward SHINE, the main demonstration event scheduled for October 2026. These stages help determine which technologies proceed into deeper collaboration and assessment within NATO’s wider development efforts.
