Basemark announces today that the former founders of Apostera GmbH, along with several key team members, have joined the company to further strengthen its leadership in Augmented Reality (AR) software.
With this bold move, Basemark brings together exceptional talent, accelerates innovation and product development, and expands beyond the automotive industry. The company aims to become a global leader in AR software for segments that demand high performance, reliability and precision.
Apostera, a former automotive technology company specializing in AR and Mixed Reality (MR) software solutions for the mobility sector, was acquired in 2022 by Harman International, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics. Following their contributions at Harman International, founders of Apostera, Nikolay Spasenov, Yuriy Svyezhentsev, Viktor Sdobnikov and Andrey Golubinskiy, decided to join Basemark. Alongside the founders, several former Apostera employees have also joined Basemark engineering team, further strengthening the company’s AR expertise.
“We are delighted to welcome Andrey, Viktor, Nikolay, Yuriy and the other new team members to Basemark. Their experience in automotive AR innovation strengthens our team and brings invaluable knowledge to our company,” says Tero Sarkkinen, founder and CEO of Basemark.
Viktor Sdobnikov
Viktor Sdobnikov, former co-founder and CTO of Apostera, joins Basemark as Vice President of Rocksolid AR. Viktor brings extensive expertise in computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, particularly focusing on augmented reality solutions for the automotive industry. Prior to founding Apostera, he served as Chief Architect of Computer Vision and Augmented Reality at automotive division of Luxoft, and following Apostera’s acquisition by Harman, he held the role of Engineering Director, AR Software. Viktor has collaborated with leading automotive OEMs and actively contributes to AI research, standardization and education. At Basemark, Viktor will lead the development of the company’s flagship product, Rocksolid AR.
“Having been deeply involved in shaping the Augmented Reality industry over the past 13 years, I can confidently say we are now entering a phase of rapid growth in automotive and beyond. I’m excited to join the passionate team at Basemark and help define the future of AR together,” says Viktor Sdobnikov, newly appointed VP of Rocksolid AR.
Andrey Golubinskiy
Andrey Golubinskiy, former co-founder and CEO of Apostera, brings extensive expertise in the automotive industry, specializing in AR, ADAS, navigation, logistics, and autonomous driving. With a strong background in strategy and business development, Andrey will lead and contribute to shaping Basemark’s strategic direction, driving expansion to new verticals, and leveraging his expertise to ensure business scalability.
“While we accomplished a lot during our time at Apostera, there were areas we couldn’t fully realize, particularly in diverse enterprise sectors where AR technology can play a pivotal role in overcoming numerous challenges. Segments like logistics and smart manufacturing are some of the many examples. It’s also crucial to build a scalable model. By staying connected to the startup world and the AR space, I am confident that I can offer valuable advice and contribute to building a truly scalable global success story”, comments Andrey Golubinsky.
